Measurement of the K-shell fluorescence yield of Ca and K with a windowless Si(Li) detector
The fluorescence yield of calcium and potassium has been measured using a windowless Si(Li) detector. In metallic layers, K-shell vacancies were produced by photo effect with a 55Fe source. The values obtained for omega(k) are 0.164 +/- 0.004 and 0.144 +/- 0.004 respectively. The latter is the first experimental value reported for potassium.
