Abstract

Operational experience has shown that the adoption of FSV systems in mines has contributed greatly to both efficiency and safety improvements, but enthusiasm for the use of FSV is tempered somewhat by the apparent high cost of ownership. The objective of this project was to reduce the cost of FSV maintenance. The main thrust of the work was towards improvements to routine maintenance, though some attention was paid to breakdown, and unplanned maintenance.
