Harmonisation by European air quality directives and their effects on an unique concept of air quality control in Europe
The current situation and new trends of European air quality directives are presented and discussed from the point of view of the harmonisation of air pollution measurements in the European member states. The role of the Central Laboratory of Air Pollution is also presented and illustrated with typical examples of harmonisation tasks recently undertaken. Finally, future perspectives are given in relation to the coming Frame Directive on monitoring, assessment and management of ambient air quality and the creation of the European Environment Agency.
