On the Weyl-Wigner formalism for rotation angle and angular momentum variables in quantum mechanics
The purpose of this article is to provide a comprehensive and detailed study of the Weyl-Wigner formalism in the case of rotation angle and angular momentum variables. Existing results on the formalism are reviewed briefly. The kinematics of the rotational Wigner function and associated correspondence between quantum operators and classical-like functions is investigated and the dynamics of the function are discussed. Finally, the Weyl-Wigner formalism is used to study a particular hindered rotator and the results and conclusions derived from the study are presented.
