European and international standardization on solar energyFunded under: JRC-ENREFMET C
This paper reports on the activity carried out on standardisation of active solar systems. Considerable work, coordinated by the Joint Research Centre, has been submitted to the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO). Many ISO standards or draft standards have been produced covering test methods for solar collectors, solar water heating systems, materials and solar radiation measurement methods. Greece has made a request to CEN to set up a Technical Committee on solar energy. This work also contains a review of four basic standards on solar collectors and domestic solar water heating systems and a list of all ISO standards or draft standards on solar energy. The FYROGENIS company has participated actively from the very beginning in the development of the standards and in the efforts to establish their use in the industry.
