This paper describes a Petrov-Galerkin formulation for transient multi-dimensional advection-diffusion equations where a modified weighting function can be derived from the least-squares finite element concept. The basic equations of a turbulence model and its boundary conditions are described and the use of the proposed Petrov-Galerkin method to solve the multi-dimensional convection-diffusion problem is discussed. Finally, the fractional step method is described and the results so far are presented.
