Abstract

An atmospheric tracer experiment will be performed in 1994 in Europe to evaluate the timeliness and quality of real-time forecasts of atmospheric dispersion in accidents causing long-range atmospheric pollution. Seventeen countries will be involved in the experiment, with around 200 air samplers being placed at synoptic stations. In this paper the three main activities of the project are described - the tracer experiment, the quick response analysis and the atmospheric model analysis - and the results of the first dry-run, which was made in April 1993, are discussed.
