Effect of temperature on tank calibration and volume measurements
In plants where nuclear materials are chemically processed, the level of the liquid solutions contained in the tanks is often measured by means of a pneumatic device known as a pneumercator. This paper contains a discussion on how such measurements are influenced by the temperatures of not only the liquid itself but also of the container and the pneumercator. Simple formulae are reported which modify the measurement results to take these effects of temperature into account.
