Work at the Institute for Transuranium Elements concerns the problem of the safe and economic use of plutonium and the reduction of the rate of production of plutonium and other actinides in power reactors. The Institute is also concerned with the long-term safety of nuclear wastes, and with basic actinide research. It provides scientific and technical support to Community policies and work for third parties. This report highlights the main achievements and milestones of the Institute's work during 1992, and includes a list of publications.
