The Fifth International Symposium on the Natural Radiation Environment was held in Austria in September 1991. Topics included: (i) measurement techniques and methodology; (ii) exposure to natural radiation in non-domestic environments; (iii) natural radionuclides and transfer pathways; (iv) characteristics and behaviour of radon progeny; (v) radioactivity and radiation in the human environment; (vi) surveys of natural radiation; (vii) mitigation methods; (viii) health effects of natural radiation; (ix) industrially modified levels of radiation exposure; (x) radon control policies.
