Abstract

The first part of this report briefly outlines the content and the main results of research work carried out during 1992 by the Safety Technology Institute in seven specific programmes. These are: (i) reactor safety; (ii) management and storage of radioactive wastes; (iii) safeguards and fissile material management; (iv) fusion technolgy and safety; (v) industrial hazards; (vi) reference methods for the evaluation of structural reliability; (vii) working environment. The second part of the report illustrates the activities performed by the Institute in support of Community policies and gives information on other initiatives of the Institute, including association of laboratories, exploratory research, human resources, publications and events.
