Abstract

Besides the determination of the ion temperature, the rotating electrical double probe is also well suited to the measurement of the Mach number of plasma flow in magnetised plasmas, (i.e. in addition to its simultaneous conventional application as an electrical probe). Results obtained from such probe measurements for an experimental study of the flow in the edge plasma of TEXTOR are presented. The characteristic features of the measured flow are all consistent with expectations from neoclassical theory.
