Abstract

The CEC allocated a total of ECU 11 million, distributed over at least five years beginning in 1983, for the research programme on industrial hygiene in mines. Sixty-five research projects received financial assistance. This summary report sets out the results of the work carried out and gives details of solutions found. The programme was divided into four sections: dust control, dust measurement and determination of dust properties, pneumoconiosis and environmental factors, and noise and vibration. The results are interesting and encouraging, particularly with regard to dust control and suppression.
