CEC/CIS joint programme on the consequences of the Chernobyl accident
This paper summarises the CEC/CIS joint programme on the consequences of the Chernobyl accident. The joint programme was initiated in 1992 following the signature of an agreement between the Commission and the relevant Ministries in Belarus, Russia and Ukraine. The scope and content of the programme are described, together with the management structure that has been implemented to ensure the successful conduct of the projects. Progress made during the first year, within each area of the programme, is summarised and priorities for, and the direction of, future work are indicated.
