Trends in containment and surveillance systems at the Euratom Safeguards Directorate
The advent of new technologies together with the challenges posed by new, highly automated nuclear facilities have triggered a series of new trends in containment and surveillance technologies employed by the Euratom Safeguards Directorate (ESD). This paper gives an overview of the latest developments at ESD ranging from new electronic seals to digital and multi-camera video systems. Aspects of integrated safeguards systems are discussed and topics such as image compression, data buses, and component and system reliability are reviewed.
