Evaluation of the BRITE/EURAM programme (1988-1992) : (Areas 1 to 4)Funded under: FP2-BRITE/EURAM 1
The principal objective of the programme is to enhance the competitive position of the Community's manufacturing industries. Objectives include trans-frontier collaboration in strategic industrial research and the transfer of technology across Community frontiers and between sectors, particularly those with a high number of SMEs. The programme covers five areas. Areas 1 to 4 cover work on: (i) advanced materials technologies; (ii) design methodology and assurance for products and processes; (iii) application of manufacturing technologies; (iv) technologies of manufacturing processes. The fifth and final area covers aeronautics. This report, which covers areas 1 to 4, is the work of a panel of independent external experts. The introductory section includes a description of the terms of reference and the working procedure followed. The main report is preceded by an executive summary in all nine official Community languages. Finally, complementary information used in the production of this report is provided in the annexes.
