Moving bed filter for absorbing hydrogen sulphide from biogas
The main aims of this demonstration project are the absorption of hydrogen sulphide from the biogas produced in a sewage plant through a practical system which does not require constant attention, nor significant labour for the loading and unloading of the iron oxides; and the use of the biogas, when it has been purified, in thermal and co-generation engine applications. The demonstration installation comprises a filter with a movable bed, of pyramid/trunk shape, with a square base, having a capacity of 1,000 litres, plus a lower and an upper hopper, for the loading and unloading of iron oxide agglomerates. The purified biogas is used in a co-generation unit comprising four TOTEM-FIAT sets generating 12.5 kWh of electrical power and 36.78 thermal kW each. Completing the project is a system which receives and stores the data from the range of variables monitored. The results obtained confirm the viability of the process.
