Abstract

A low pressure breakdown with the pulsed hollow cathode effect has been the subject of a number of investigations. In the present work the cathode is of the hollow-cathode configuration and the anode is of the same configuration and material (Cu). The effect of changing hole diameter on the production of electron and ion beam has been studied in the two directions beside anode and cathode at different discharge currents. The discharge voltage varied from 15 kV - 30 kV, at duration time 200 - 1000 ns and 1.0 E-6 mbar.
