Abstract

The flexibility provided by a variety of ion cyclotron resonance heating (ICRH) and current drive (CD) scenarios for ITER (the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) requires the antenna to operate at a number of frequencies spread over a wide frequency range. A new concept of the traditional short-circuited strip-line antenna is presented in which a long strap is connected in parallel with a very short section. A simplified theoretical analysis of the proposed antenna configuration is presented.
