Integrated energy system for greenhouses
In a project in the Netherlands, energy costs have been reduced and product quality improved in a 19,000 m2 greenhouse already equipped with some energy-saving devices. Overall, a payback period of 4.9 years has been achieved. The project involved the integration of several technical climate and energy installations in a greenhouse, for controlling an optimum-production climate independently of outdoor ambient conditions. The integrated energy system uses assimilation lighting, gas-engine driven generators for electricity and heat production, a water/water heat pump, dehumidification units, a CO(2) fan unit, a hot water heat storage system and a central climate system.
