EC intercomparison of VOC measurements in ambient air : Intercomparison of NO(2) calibration procedures implemented in the EC air quality monitoring networks
These two posters were presented at the Eurachem conference held in Noordwijkerhout in November 1993. The first poster deals with an intercomparison exercise which was organised to measure volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in ambient air. It involved twenty participants selected from leading laboratories in the field of VOC measurements. A dilute mixture of hydrocarbons, prepared to simulate an urban atmosphere, was measured. Results of the exercise are given and it is concluded that the establishment of a protocol for sampling analytical and calibration procedures enables the number of systematic errors between laboratories to be minimised. The second poster discusses two intercomparison exercises which were organised to control the NO(2) calibration procedures implemented in the EC air quality monitoring networks. Twenty four laboratories took part and both exercises were carried out using a calibration bench for the generation of standard gas mixtures. When compared with the standard values, the measurements obtained by the different laboratories and with different calibration procedures show good agreement.
