This paper reports on toroidicity induced Alfvén eigenmodes (TAE). These global MHD modes could cause anomalous alpha particle losses, subsequently affecting tokamak reactor operations. MHD equations have been used to study the resistive damping of the TAE by employing the ballooning formation. In the parameter regime, the equations are solved by employing asymptotic techniques to yield a damping rate scaling. The analytical results have been verified numerically using a toroidal resistive MHD stability code.
