Microfiltering of refinery slurry oil
The purpose of this project was to demonstrate the feasibility of the microfiltering process on mineral membranes in an industrial environment to eliminate catalyser fines contained in slurry oil produced at the bottom of the main fractionating column of a catalytic cracker. During the project, the plant operated for 8,200 hours and 16,750 t of slurry oil were treated. The demonstration enabled the equipment to be tested and conclusions to be drawn concerning the improvements required (in particular as regards module assembly) which will allow an industrial plant to be designed. Future prospects for the process are linked to increased fuel quality constraints.
