Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

Within the framework of the Community's biotechnology research programmes, groups of contractors were brought together to constitute ELWWs, with a view to facilitating the rapid circulation and exchange of information, data and materials, and increasing mobility among research staff. The purpose of this brochure is to illustrate the work of one such ELWW in the field of linear vectors for animal cells. Teams of experts in Barcelona, Brussels, Oeiras, Pavia, Pirbright, Rome and Tübingen participated in research into the following areas: (i) replication origins (structure and function); (ii) the structure and the function of telomeres; (iii) the assembly of functional sequences into linear vectors. The findings of the research and the benefits of such a cooperation are reported and discussed.
