Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

Within the framework of the Community's biotechnology research programmes, groups of contractors were brought together to constitute ELWWs, with a view to facilitating the rapid circulation and exchange of information, data and materials, and increasing mobility among research staff. The purpose of this brochure is to illustrate the work of one such ELWW in the field of the production and recovery of biotechnologically important proteins from the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The significance of Saccharomyces cerevisiae is discussed, together with the background and objectives of the project. The key areas of research are described and sample applications are presented. Finally, the benefits of collaboration are discussed.
