The T-project in biotechnology on lactic acid bacteria (LAB) is formed by 34 academic and industrial laboratories. Its final aims are the development of stable controlled gene expression for a range of LAB and the production of strains meeting specific requirements of the food and feed industries. At this meeting, project leaders and participants were able to exchange information and results obtained during the first year of the project, and to reinforce cooperation particularly between the different subgroups CORE and LEAVES. Ideas for future research activities were put forward, and specific discussions held with the members of LABIP, the associated Industrial Platform. This report presents abstracts of the communications presented at the meeting, including both lectures and posters.
