Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

The main purpose of COST 812 is to encourage cooperative research on the identification and utilisation of suitable strains of cold tolerant parasitic nematodes and symbiotic bacteria as bio-insecticides against outdoor insect pests. The project aims to extend existing work from different laboratories in Europe in establishing a collection of valuable nematode strains, particularly strains which are active at low temperatures. Those nematode strains showing the most promise will be improved in selective breeding programmes. The strains will be exchanged between laboratories to test the efficacy against various insects in field experiments and their suitablility for mass production. In this report the members of the management committee are listed and the memorandum of understanding is presented. Minutes of the first and second management committee meetings are also included, together with a survey of research carried out by participating laboratories.
