The T-projects of BRIDGE, a new tool for technology transfer in the CommunityFunded under: FP2-BRIDGE
The concept of T-projects derived from a suggestion by a group of independent experts to increase, in Community programmes for biotechnology, the contribution to large-scale projects directed towards the solution of major trans-European problems. The group suggested a number of targeted objectives which were all taken up by BRIDGE and are to be maintained in the new programme on biotechnology to be launched in 1992. In the review, the five objectives which form the basis of the T-projects are outlined. These are: (i) the sequencing of yeast genome; (ii) detailed molecular map of the plant genome; (iii) plant cell regeneration; (iv) analysis and modification of structure-function relationships in a few proteins; (v) a methodology for the assessment of safety. The main features and implementation details of the projects are provided.
