Nuclear fission safety
The research and training programme on nuclear fission safety (1991-1994) has two fundamental, complementary goals: (i) to provide the scientific basis for the protection of Europe's population from the detrimental health consequences of radiation; (ii) to contribute to the development of safety requirements for current and future generations of nuclear power plants. In this brochure an overview of the content of the programme is given, together with a brief description of its implementation. The importance of international collaboration in this research area is stressed.
