Exploratory investigation of employment trends in rural areas related to ECSFunded under: FP3-RACE 2
Assessments and forecasts of the potential impacts of advanced communications are an essential complement to the research and technology development activities in the EC RACE programme on advanced communications. This study concerns the impact of IT&T on employment patterns and trends, particularly in rural areas. Its objective has been to understand how these new technologies impact on the overall level of new job creation and suppression, the geographical shifts in employment associated with their introduction, and the changes in type of employment associated with the changes in business practice resulting from increased use of IT, telecommunications and telematics.
