Abstract

This project focuses on the communication between vehicles and the RTI infrastructure and aims to assess the facilities offered by communication techniques including radio, sensors, infra-red, microwave and cable transmission. The subproject assessed and evaluated technologies for use in RTI on the basis of technical feasibility, performance, influence of the specific road environment and the economics of implementation. There were demonstrations of and recommendations for the most suitable data acquisition and data communication techniques to be used for a pan-European RTI system.
