Abstract

The project examines many aspects associated with the integration of telecommunications for RTI. These aspects include analyses of both functional requirements and capabilities of bearer networks. An analysis of interconnection techniques led to the development of the Drive Normalised Transmission and the optimum interconnection of applications and networks, based on the OSI model. The analyses make use of models and simulations, formulated within the project, to achieve this optimum matching. Key issues include definition of IRTE communications architecture, characterisation of information flow required by the IRTE, assessment of applicability and recommendation of communication systems available, and collaboration with other DRIVE projects.
