Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

Abstract

This report identifies and attempts to analyse the external factors which could influence energy futures, and presents projections which are offered as a contribution to policy debate. The need for a Community energy policy dimension clearly emerges, and the report offers some guiding principles which could provide a foundation for this dimension. A detailed analysis of the prospects for energy supply and demand trends to 2005 is presented. The 21st century energy system to 2050 is then discussed. Results are presented in two parts: (i) the forecast analysis for several world regions; (ii) the detailed analysis for the European Community for a reference case, a higher growth case and a CO(2) tax case.
