Abstract

Many theoretical models have been proposed to explain the observed anomalous transport of energy in tokamaks. A database of models of anomalous ion and electron thermal diffusivities has been assembled from the literature, with particular emphasis on recording their regime of validity. These have been tested against high quality local power balance data from JET in the appropriate validity conditions. The testing programme has led to refinements in the old models. It therefore needs to be continued, in order to assess new or refined models as they are developed.
