The preparation of three rapeseed reference materials (CRMs 446, 447 and 448) and the steps taken to establish the certified values for oil content, moisture and volatiles content are described. Details of the studies are given to demonstrate homogeneity and stability. The results of the certification exercise are given for "as is" and dry oil content, and moisture and volatiles content. The exercise involved private and public European laboratories who applied the three standardised methods (ISO, EEC and FOSFA).
