This report contains the papers presented at the BCR workshop on changes in DNA for the detection of irradiated food held in Strasbourg in May 1992. It was convened in order to broaden the analytical knowledge of using DNA methods as detection tools for an irradiation treatment of foods. Scientists acknowledged as international experts in DNA and radiobiology were invited to examine the various methods presented by members of the DNA group and to propose technical improvements, to bring new ideas and to encourage new scientific collaborations. Their conclusions and recommendations are presented.
