Abstract

Since its launch in 1985, EUREKA has made a significant contribution to the advancement of research and development in Europe. EUREKA aims to improve the productivity and competitiveness of Europe's industries and economies on the world market, through collaborative projects directed at developing high technology-based products, processes and services with worldwide potential. This article presents EUREKA's research scope and project selection and gives statistical data on projects and participants. Specific projects are profiled including JESSI, COSINE, and MPD. EUREKA's future priorities are set out. Information on publications, the EUREKA database and national project coordinators is provided.
