Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

New technologies and recent findings in neuromotor control provide useful tools to conceive new diagnosis procedures and to restore impaired motor functions. For this purpose the basic understanding of natural sensory-motor integration must be combined with the knowledge of neuromotor disorders and the advanced technologies used in rehabilitation. One hundred and twenty short articles, taken from the ISEK 92 Congress in Florence, held in June-July 1992, are organised according to the following topics: (i) round table discussion of motor control; (ii) clinical application; (iii) functional electrical stimulation; (iv) muscle fatigue. Specific chapters address: neuromotor control, basic EMG, motion analysis, motor unit, movement disorders, ergonomics, cortical and spinal stimulation, clinical EMG, motor control of mastication and speech, functional electrical stimulation, posture and movement, rehabilitation methods, kinesiology, muscle fatigue and muscle function and sport.
