Epidemiology is the study of the distribution and determinants of health-related states or events in specified populations, and the application of this to the control of health problems. The scope of the epidemiological research presented in this volume is to increase efficiency, aid in dissemination to practical applications and optimise health efficiency and treatment throughout the European Community. The book is divided into the following three parts: (i) cancer; (ii) age-related health problems; (iii) environment and life-style related health problems.
