Abstract

The purpose of this research was to extend the possibilities of remote control using the TELSAFE CP wave-carrier cable and to improve safety underground by designing a long-distance modular telecommunication system for mine galleries. This enabled remote control for winches used in monorails and telephonic communication to be provided using the same transmitter cable. A study of the electronic circuits of the new elements in the system, called TELSAFE CP-PHONIE was carried out, leading to the development of a prototype. A feasibility study for certification of the equipment in conformity with the European regulations for use in mines containing gas was undertaken. The specifications and a manufacturing file for industrialisation were established.
