Abstract

This paper describes a GOA-MAIZE simulation model which was linked to ARC/INFO to assess the potentials and the constraints of Community land for maize crops. Emphasis is placed on the GIS management of model input and output data. Use of the model was based on 10-day climatic records spanning the last thirty years. The following aspects are dealt with in the paper: (i) data necessary to the model; (ii) pre-processing of these data before model run; (iii) post-processing of the model's results; (iv) cartographic views of the results; (v) choices made along each of these steps.
