  • The certification of the aflatoxin B(1) mass fraction of three peanut meal and two compound feed reference materials : CRMs 262, 263, 264, 375 and 376

This report describes the preparation of three peanut meal and two compound feed reference materials and the certification of their aflatoxin B(1) mass fraction. RM 262 was prepared from uncontaminated peanuts. RM 263 and RM 264 were prepared by blending naturally and uncontaminated peanut meal to achieve the desired aflatoxin B(1) mass fractions. RMs 375 and 376 were prepared by blending dairy feed (decontaminated for RM 375 and contaminated for RM 376) with a variety of feed compounds. Details are given of the milling, blending and packaging procedure and the investigations to verify homogeneity and stability of the materials. The certification exercise was carried out by seventeen laboratories using a variety of extraction and clean-up procedures.
