One of IRMM's main tasks is the preparation and certification of reference materials for various purposes. Nuclear reference materials have been prepared at IRMM for many years for different applications on a routine basis. The present paper describes the preparation and certification of some tailor-made reference materials. Some of these were made at the request of the Euratom Safeguards Authorities, in order to calibrate instrumentation, test the performance of new methods or simply control the quality of results. Materials suitable for K-edge densitometry, neutron-coincidence counting, UF(6) gas mass spectrometry and (low-level) gamma spectrometry were prepared.
