Abstract

One of the more challenging problems when considering emergency pressure relief design concerns the type of reaction that produces a non-condensable gas as a reaction product. The temperature and pressure of such systems become effectively decoupled. This paper presents some computations performed with the computer package RELIEF, developed at the JRC. Specific attention is focused on hybrid and gassy reactions and the use of volatile solvents to moderate the runaway.
