Abstract

The report contains two major technical sections, the first being a state of the art report on semi rigid action summarising the activity of the three groups containing work done under the three initial contracts and also studies conducted outside the ECSC sponsored projects.
The initial contracts were all in the field of semi rigid action and thus had a significant degree of overlap. However, although they had differing aims, the resulting complementary nature of the projects is evident.
The second component of the contract concerns the maintenance of the Sheffield database of beam to column joint moment rotation characteristics. As further data became available it was entered into the database. In its current form the Sheffield database handles only data from tests on bare steel members. A feasibility study into the requirements for extending the facility to accept data for joints involving composite steel and concrete components which has been prepared at Sheffield was passed to partners for comment and has been made available to the Aachen team who are working on a PC mounted version of the Sheffield facility. With the blessing of the F6 committee a copy of all of the Sheffield data has been transferred to Aachen. .
