Abstract

This report presents the synthesis of the Fanay-Tenelles thermo-hydromechanical (THM) experiment interpretation, and the validation of different thermomechanical models. The aim of the THM experiment was to study heat influence on fractured granite to simulate deep radioactive waste disposal. The principles of a thermomechanical calculation by the finite elements method are described. The theories of thermal transfer calculation, the thermoelastic calculation and thermomechanical coupling used in this study are reviewed. The development of a 2-D model which allowed the interpretation of experimental measures is presented. A 3-D model was also developed to improve the first biodimensional models.
