A number of special test and training facilities have been established at the JRC together with a comprehensive training programme in the areas of non-destructive assay, mass and volume determinations, sealing and identification, surveillance and monitoring techniques, and data evaluation and accountancy. The application of these techniques in reprocessing and fuel fabrication facilities has been studied. The laboratories which are now being operated are presented and particular details are given for the PERLA, TAME and LaSCo laboratories.
