Differential pulse polarography was used to study the binding of Ni, Co and Eu with Aldrich sodium humate, humic acid and sodium fulvate. Membrane dialysis using a nominal 1000 molecular weight cut-off was used to investigate the reactions of Ni, Co, Eu and Sn with Aldrich sodium humate. The Schubert method using cation exchange resins was used to investigate complexation. Conditional association values obtained by the three techniques varied considerably but the highest values were obtained using the ion-exchange method.
