Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

This paper, which is the result of an informal survey of staff and external contractors working for three JRC institutes, reviews JRC activities at its Ispra site focusing on functional GIS requirements in spatial data handling and analysis. Projects at the Environment Institute, the Institute for Systems Engineering and Informatics and the Institute for Remote Sensing in which GIS systems are used, are discussed. Requirements for expanded use of GIS are outlined and general problems experienced with existing GIS systems are examined.
