Application of laser range images to design information verification
Design information verification (DIV) involves determining the differences between engineering plans and the actual plant or building. This paper describes the proposed use of laser range images in DIV, and details the processing and analysis required for the extraction of spatial features to characterise the surrounding environment. Possible modes for range data acquisition and verification strategies are presented and the use of laser range finders (LRF) for distance measurements is examined.
